Urgent Action Letters Needed to Help Save Stonehenge

Letters are desperately needed by Wednesday, October 27, 2004 (send them by Express Mail) to help prevent a large-scale freeway-type road project from passing next to Stonehenge. This is the last chance to prevent the project , so please do take time to write. It has been proposed that part of the road be underground in a tunnel, however, this is not adequate. No major roads should be built next to this World Heritage Site, considered an archetypal sacred site.

Begin your letter with the following: "I am writing to object to the A303 Stonehenge ‘Improvement' and to urge you not to allow the project to go ahead following the public inquiry earlier this year." Please, then add some of your own thoughts about the importance of preserving the pristine sacred quality of Stonehenge.

Please, no e-mails; write to the following: Rt. Hon. Alistair Darling MP. Secretary of State, Department of Transport, Great Minister House, 76 Marsham St, London SW1P 4DR, UK.
