Study Tour Q & A

What are tours?

Our itineraries emphasize learning; we feature informal talks with experts at sites and often include evening discussion groups. A complete study guide is developed for each trip with reprints of articles about the sites and cultures being visited.

Who leads the tours?

We use cultural experts who are often indigenous people; some tours are led by archaeologists or other scholars. In addition, many tours are escorted by Sacred Sites International founder's Leonard and Nancy Becker.

How large are the groups?

Our groups for domestic trips average 12-14 people. International tours are often smaller groups averaging 9-12 people.

How many tours are offered each year and how often are trips repeated?

In an effort to offer quality trips, we usually offer only 2-3 tours each year. Itineraries are sometimes repeated, however, we usually offer our travelers new experiences and destinations each year.

Who travels with our tours?

We have both single people and couples, many are professional people, some are retired. We generally have a nice mix of interesting people ranging in age from their thirties to eighties.

Are the trips strenuous?

While many of our tours include short walks and easy hikes, they are not considered to be strenuous activities.

What kind of accommodations are used?

We usually stay in bed and breakfast inns, and smaller motels and hotels with character or historic interest.

What kind of food is served?

We like to feature healthy cuisine with choices that appeal to a wide range of people including vegetarians and people on special diets required for health.
